Julie Hill studied for a music degree, before being awarded a Laura Ashley Foundation scholarship to study for an Advanced Performance Diploma at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Since moving to Devon, she has combined professional playing with violin and viola teaching. This includes being a member of the Clifton String Quartet.

She teaches at Exeter Cathedral School and Blundells School, Tiverton.
